“From the unknown, profound desires enter in upon us, and... the fulfilling of those desires is the fulfilling of creation." - D H. Lawrence
Desire gets a bad rap in a lot of today’s spiritual practices and religions. Desire is the root of all evil say the Christians. In Buddhism we are taught to eschew all desires, for to desire something is to be reaching for something that is forever out of our reach, this leads to discontentment and constant restlessness. They say the aim is to be satisfied with what we have, except our lot in life but deserve nothing surely a desire in itself!
Desire is one of the principal forces at this stage of evolution, and like our beliefs we do our self a great service if you get to know and understand them as best as can.
Where would we be without desire? This tremendous longing to be all we can be to be more than what we are. Our desires, our dreams and aspirations. Our fantasy in the pursuit of them, there realisation or not. They are the fuel that drives as onwards into infinity and beyond, desire gives our lives meaning and purpose. Desire is creation, the desire to see the next sunrise, to provide for your family, to kiss your child one more time. What a struggle it must be for those with the belief that desires are bad or must be suppressed. Oh, what a constant battle they must be fighting the selves.
To desire is one of life's great gifs. We can, of course be content and grateful for what we already have in our lives and still possess desire and goals for the future, suppressing our desires simply brings us into battle with her true nature, a nature that is wild and free, constantly seeking expansion and new experiences, full of limitless joy and vitality, like a teenager on the first morning of the endless summer
You were born from desire, the desire of All That Is to know itself. To goal then it's not to suppress your desires, but workout the ones that resonate with your soul. You can know this by the ones that make you feel good! You were born of desire, and you will die with desire burning in your heart
I desire to be loving and loved
